What I love about DIY is it allows you to take something and change its function or purpose to work for you. When I saw this mantle on
KSL (a local online classifieds) for only $30, I knew I had struck gold. I didn't have a fireplace, but I did need a large shelf on my kitchen wall.
My husband, Steve, cut off the legs for me and then I gave it two coats of Rustoluem's oil based enamel paint in white.
Steve and his Dad making an anchor for the shelf to hang on.
Securing it to the wood anchor.
This is how the space looked before.
And, after! I can't wait to style it! It brightens up the nook in my kitchen so much. I'm so happy with it!
There is something about high-gloss white that makes my heart sing.
