A Shoe Storage Solution with Chalk Paint decorative paint by Annie Sloan

Posted by Tutorial on Friday, January 17, 2014
Label: Annie Sloan, Label: Before and After

Is my front door the only one that is the gathering place for discarded shoes? I clean up piles like this on a daily basis. Daily. I decided something must be done. For one, the pile is not really easy on the eyes. For another, the shoes were blocking the heating vent.

In my search for a shoe storage solution (yes, I love alliteration) I stumbled upon this little cabinet at a thrift store for $6. I immediately knew it had to come home with me...regardless of whether it worked next to the front door or not. Isn't it cute? I love those legs.

With the help of my good friends at Annie Sloan Unfolded, I was able to transform my sad brown cabinet into the ultimate solution.

Let me show you how Chalk Paint decorative paint by Annie Sloan can update your furniture.

I used Chalk Paint decorative paint by Annie Sloan in the color Florence in addition to the Clear Soft Wax.

My little assistant pitched in and helped me paint the legs.

With Chalk Paint you don't need to sand anything beforehand...love!

Because the cabinet was going to hold our shoes, I layered the bottom with glass tiles. I found these on sale for $2 a sheet and used one and a half sheets. The most expensive part was the grout!

When the paint is dry, gently rub some of the Annie Sloan Soft Wax over the cabinet to seal it.

Isn't she so cool?!? I love having a decorated area by the front door (did you check out the Carpe Diem download?) and having decor that serves a practical purpose is a huge plus.

I was provided Chalk Paint decorative paint by Annie Sloan from Annie Sloan Unfolded, but the experience and opinions are 100% legit.
