Although I'm not a huge scrapbooker, I am a big fan of scrapbooking supplies. Especially cute baubles like these decorative scrapbook brads:
But because I usually let

do my scrapbooking for me, I knew these decorative brads were intended for something more than sitting in a box. I loved the jewels and the patterns, so I turned them into fancy earrings and hair clips for my girl and me.
First, I removed the brad portion from the back. They are pretty flimsy, simply bend the metal brads back and forth a few times and then pop right off.
Then, I pulled out my super glue and started attaching my embellishments. The super glue worked well for the earrings, but I had to re-glued the embellishments on the hair clips.
I glued a piece of ribbon to the top clip portion and then glued the embellishments onto the ribbon. They are much more secure this way.
With two sheets of each pattern (a total of four sheets of brads) I made ten hair clips and five pairs of earrings. There are even a few brads left over for future projects.
A very easy project, with a ton of possibilities. Considering I found the sheets of scrapbooking brads at a yard sale for $0.25 a sheet, I'm think I totally scored.
